Keto on the go
Often, I hear from people that they find it easy to eat keto at home but struggle with how to approach it when they have to go to work all day or spend a day out. In this article, I’ll show you that it doesn’t have to be complicated at all, and I’ll share what I like to bring along for the journey.
Table of Contents:

- If you have a fridge or cooler
- If you have the ability to heat something up
It can be so simple
The difficulty often lies in keeping it simple. Before you started eating keto, you didn’t have trouble coming up with something to take with you, did you? Often, in a non-keto lifestyle, it consists of a few sandwiches or crackers. Guess what? You can do that with keto bread and crackers too! You will find many recipes for that in The ultimate ketogenic cookbook.
Aside from that, there are also numerous other possibilities for food that you can easily take with you on the go. In fact, most of the things you eat at home can be taken on the road. If you have access to a refrigerator and/or microwave at work, the possibilities are even greater! But even if you don’t, you can still go a long way with a small cooler bag or a thermos flask. Nowadays, there are even thermal lunch boxes and the like. Even if you don’t have those options, you can choose from the many options that don’t necessarily need to be chilled or heated.
If you don’t have refrigeration
Food you can easily pack in your bag without much thought:
- Homemade gingerbread
- One of the many keto breads or crackers, with your choice of toppings

- Raw vegetables (cucumber, tomato, radish)
- Unroasted, unsalted mixed nuts
- Boiled eggs
- Mug cake
- Waffles or pancakes
- Bifi sausages
- Homemade wraps with your choice of fillings
- Babybel cheeses
- A fresh avocado (just remember to bring a knife and a spoon 😉)
- Ingredients for bulletproof coffee (coconut oil, butter, optionally cinnamon; you can usually get a cup of coffee almost anywhere)
If you have a refrigerator or cooler bag:
Ideas to take with you if you can keep them chilled, either in a cooler bag or in a refrigerator at your destination:
- Various types of salad

If you have the option to heat something up or keep it warm:

So many possibilities!
As you can see, there are really so many options to choose from and you can vary them to your heart’s content. The items in bold have delicious recipes that can be found in my cookbooks.
